Poetry Beyond Borders: Afghan Voices Featured in Prominent Japanese Literary Journals

We are proud to share that, over the past few weeks, our literary friends and allies in Japan have carried out meaningful cultural activities in support of our voices for freedom.

Poems by poets Somaia Ramish and Nadia Anjuman have been translated and published in esteemed Japanese literary journals, including Poetry and Thought (April 2025, Vol. 448), Fragile ,Asahikawa Poetry Journal (April 2025, Issue 23), / フラジヤイル (April 2025 edition).

In addition to the publication of these poems, insightful critical essays and reflections on their work have also been featured, highlighting the global literary value of Afghan poetry.

During the recent Afghanistan Art Week, we also received messages of solidarity and support from Japan. These gestures brought us joy and strengthened our resolve.

We are also pleased to share that the book "Madness of Geography in My Veins "and the second edition of "No Jail Can Confine Poetry" have both received a warm reception, reaching a wide audience and selling remarkably well.

Over the past two years, our collaborators in Japan have worked tirelessly and selflessly to present an honest and distinct voice from Afghanistan a vision of the world where all human beings are free and equal, without discrimination.

We are deeply grateful to those of you who stand on the right side of history, against tyranny and darkness!

At Baamdaad – The House of Poetry in Exile, we see this resonance as a deep human connection. Poetry is a bridge beyond borders and we are deeply moved that our call for justice has traveled across continents. Writers, poets, and freedom-loving individuals have joined our voice and becoming part of our shared struggle for liberation and dignity.

With sincere gratitude, Together Against Censorship, Oppression and Silence!
